Most recently, in 2006, ChoiceOne Financial Service, Inc. and Valley Ridge Financial Corp. announced and completed a merger agreement. During November and December of 2006, the holding companies merged and the subsidiaries ChoiceOne Bank and Valley Ridge Bank also merged. The holding company maintained the name ChoiceOne Financial Services, Inc. and the Bank also maintained the name ChoiceOne Bank as a result of the merger. This allows the opportunity to offer customers the convenience of 14 branch offices, multiple ATM locations, a large array of products and services and the same great service they have come to appreciate. Together the organization has a long record of involvement in the communities it serves.

The foundation of LOSB is built on the belief that we can make a difference in the lives of our customers. We do that by offering the products and services customers need and investing in the technology that makes it easier for customers to do business with us, whenever and wherever they are. But, more importantly, we succeed through the commitment of LOSB employees - to listen to customers and understand their needs and create solutions that will help them achieve their financial goals.
The ability to make a difference in today's increasingly complex world will lead to long-term success for our communities, customers and LOSB.
At LOSB our business is governed by our mission statement. This philosophy provides the framework and guides how we operate, make decisions and interact with customers, communities, investors and each other.

The Honor State Bank was founded in 1917 when they opened their first office in Honor, Michigan, on Henry Street. The purpose then, as it is now, was to serve friends and neighbors who live in the community—giving them an opportunity to bank with people they knew. While much has changed since those early days, the commitment to provide independent banking services to their communities has remained the same.
With the exception of the “Bank Holiday” proclaimed by Governor Comstock in February of 1933, The Honor State Bank was the only local bank to remain open throughout the Great Depression. They have continued uninterrupted service ever since.
In 1983 they opened their first branch in the Village of Benzonia. Other offices followed with branches established in the following communities.
Village of Lake Ann – 1989,
Village of Copemish – 1991,
Village of Buckley – 1995,
Village of Bear Lake – 2000,
Traverse City – 2000.
In addition to these branch offices, they have Wholesale Mortgage Funding offices in Grand Rapids, Michigan; Palatine, Illinois; Richmond, Indiana; and Columbus, Ohio.
If you’re not yet a customer, they look forward to meeting you. It only takes a couple of visits to one of our offices before you’re banking with people you know.

In today’s era of mergers and acquisitions, they’re a rarity —an independent, locally owned and managed, community bank. For over 100 years, they have been a major supporter of the west shore community and its businesses, investing their time and commitment, as well as financial resources, to make the region a strong, vibrant place to live. But they offer much more than a legacy:
|
|
They provide products that make a real difference in the lives of their customers—helping them buy homes, fund businesses, invest for the future, or simply spend more time with their families than at the bank.
|
|
They invest in state-of-the-art technology to make doing business with the bank easier and more convenient for their customers.
|
|
They also invest in their people, so that they have the expertise to help customers with important financial decisions. At West Shore Bank, you deal with a decision maker— face-to-face — who can take care of your business right away.
|
|
And, perhaps most importantly, you get service. Real service — the kind that used to be the hallmark of the banking business. |
In their 100-year heritage, they have never forgotten that they are here to serve the financial needs of their customers. I invite you to experience the difference. |
